This plane is a great plane to fly but I would not recommend it for a first time buy. I bought it a few weeks after I started and it is one of the harder planes to fly. some of the problems that make it hard to fly is that the wing has only rubber bands to hold it on. With just the rubber bands, the wing moves and it sometimes makes it hard to control. The other part of the plane that flexes is the aluminum bar that holds the elevator and rudder on. Aluminum that small is not strong enough to hold the wings in one place so that also makes it hard to control. The good things about this plane is that the foam is very durable and can take some crashes. The plane is also cheap compared to other planes. When you buy the plane you will have to cover the wing and tail section. Then the rest is just to put your electronics in. The plane uses a size.40 engine. I used a OS .40 and that works great a super tiger .40 is also a good pick for this plane. I like this plane a lot but i would not recommend it as a trainer. I would get a Kadet for a trainer and practice with that then move on to another or this plane.

Do you know where I can get documentation on assembling/flying this? Just picked one up at a garage sale (dura plane II) with OS Max LA 46 engine and futaba transmitter (38), but really don't know where to start to put it altogether... any advice?

The Duraplane .40 is GREAT.... I've trained a dozen junior flyers on the basics. It does require MORE rubber bands.... YUP, to keep that baby under control in the air. And to top it off it does basic tricks easily... I named mine "Dirty Tricks" as it has been banged around for the past 10 years. SMOOOOOOOTH control throws... It will last a long time and give MANY hours of flying pleasure... Lots of folks laugh at it and call it a plastic chair leg.... Then they put their balsa model too hard in the landing phase... Guess who has the last laugh!!!!! DURAPLANE....................
